Aalto was founded in 1999 by Mariano Garcia - erstwhile technical director at Vega Sicilia of 30 years - and Javier Zaccagnini. The winery has old vineyards in some of the finest communes of Ribera del Duero, the fruit from which is vinified in a modern, gravity-fed winery.
The wine that emanates from the the Aalto winery, a James Bond villain-style futuristic lair back up in the Ribera del Duero hills, is rapidly becoming a Spanish classic: a Ribera del Duero of enormous class and polish.
